Shine Wellness  Policies

We all know that life happens and emergencies arise, but please keep in mind my cancellation and late policies. This is my livelihood. It is what pays my bills and takes care of my family. When you cancel with less than 24 hours it affects my ability to do that.  Please give  the courtesy of a 24 hour notice so I can fill that time slot.

How do I book an appointment?

You can schedule your appointment online by clicking on the “book an appointment” tab at the top of the page, or you can call me at 704-634-8128 or text. Additionally you can send an email to Shinewellmt@gmail.com. You will need to provide a valid credit card number to hold your appointment or your voucher number if using a coupon. You may pay with an alternate form of payment at the time of check out. I accept cash, checks and credit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please allow 24 hours advance notice to reschedule or cancel. Cancellations in less than 24 hours and “No shows” will be charged the full cost of the appointment. The charges will go on the credit card you gave when scheduling your appointment or you can pay by cash.
These rules also apply to Gift Certificates / coupons/ other promotions~ in the event of a “no show” or same day cancellation the voucher will become void and is considered redeemed. (including but not limited to Amazon and Living Social vouchers).

If you are running late?

If you arrive late for your appointment, you will be given the time remaining. You will be responsible for the entire cost of your scheduled appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment and have not notified your therapist, your appointment is considered cancelled and you will be charged full cost of the session.

How do I redeem my Gift Certificates/ Coupons/ Promotion Cards?

When you book an appointment you will be asked for your voucher code to hold your appointment. You MUST present your card/coupon at the time of visit or you will be charged the full cost of the visit. IF you fail to give a 24 -hour notice when canceling or changing an appointment, you will lose the discount/special and will be charged a cancellation fee. Please read all fine print on each promotion.

Is there anything I need to do before my massage?

Yes, your skin is the largest organ in your body. Since lotion is applied during massage, the skin must be clean. Please make sure that you have bathed or showered before your massage session. This will also help to relax the muscle tissue and allow greater benefits during your massage. Additionally, any essential oils that are used will be able to penetrate the skin more effectively.

What can I expect for my first massage?

When you arrive for your first appointment, you will be required to fill out a Client Intake Form and sign the Office Policy. After discussing your health history, current need for massage, and any painful areas of concern we will create a personalized session tailored just for you, as there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” massage session. Then you will be given a few minutes of privacy and peace to undress to your level of comfort before laying on the massage table. You will be draped in sheets and a blanket  for the duration of the session. Take a few breaths to settle in and the therapist will knock before entering the room again. Once the massage begins, feel free to openly communicate if you would like to change the pressure, temperature, music. Feel free to talk or ask questions throughout the session but many clients just choose to use this time to be quiet. This is your time to relax, so be comfortable and content!

Why do I need to fill out the Client Intake Form?

The more the therapist knows of your medical history, the better they can adjust the techniques/products used during your session. Please answer each question to the best of your knowledge. If you are unsure how to answer a question, just ask. Take responsibility to update your form when necessary (e.g. recent surgeries, new painful areas of concern, skin rash, new medications, etc). Any information you provide is private and confidential. These forms need to be updated yearly.

What kind of payment do you accept?

Payment is due at time of service. Cash, check, or credit card. Returned checks are subject to a $25 fee. There are no refunds once services have been rendered.

Do you sell Gift Certificates?

Yes! Giving the gift of Massage is a wonderful way to show your spouse, friend, or co-worker that you care about their wellbeing. Once purchased, Gift Certificates are non-refundable. Call to make arrangements for purchase. If desired, you can include a gratuity (tip) on the gift certificate, just let your therapist know at the time of purchase.

Can you help me avoid the doctor?

No. I am a licensed massage therapist in the state of North Carolina. I cannot diagnose medical diseases or disorders, prescribe medications, or perform manipulations or adjustments of the human skeletal structure. I will be happy to refer you to those who are licensed to do so.

Is there ever a bad time to get a massage?

Actually , yes. If you are suffering from fever, severe burns, poison ivy, or any other  form of widespread skin rash/irritation, please refrain from booking a session or call to reschedule your appointment within 24 hours. Also- If you’ve suffered from an injury within the past 36-72 hours, it may be best to practice RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevation) or seek a physician’s help. Lastly, If you are currently ill or are even ‘starting to feel better today’ after an extended illness, just wait a little longer before receiving massage ( massage promotes healthy immune function by improving lymphatic circulation but this may make an ill person feel worse.)

Can I bring my child with me?

To enjoy the full benefits of massage, children are not allowed in the treatment room unless they are old enough to enjoy their own session. You will not be able to fully relax and they may interrupt another person’s session. I do not have a babysitter on staff, please do not leave young children unattended in the waiting area.

Do you accept tips?

Gratuities are gratefully accepted at your discretion and are customarily about 20%.

Is there anything i need to do after my massage?

Yes, drink plenty of water. It will help promote the removal of metabolic wastes that have been released from the muscle tissue. I recommend 8 glasses of water a day or 1/2 your body weight in ounces, of water a day. Also, get a good nights rest. This will help the body heal and renew.

Can I schedule another appointment?

Sure- When you check out you can book another appointment. Massage benefits are cumulative. Booking a massage once a month is great for maintenance of healthy muscle tissue as well as promoting the benefits of boosting your immune system, lowering cortisol and stress and helping the body and mind stay healthy. For chronic conditions your doctor can recommend a massage plan to help you obtain optimum recovery. I will be happy to refer you to a local chiropractor to help guide you on your wellness path.

Do you perform erotic massage?

No. Never. If this is what you seek, do not contact me. I provide only non-sensual, professional therapeutic massage. Any act of sexual misconduct or harassment by the client will immediately terminate the session, and full payment will be due. Law enforcement will be notified if deemed appropriate. Do not ‘hint’ or make ‘suggestions’ that are in reference to sexual conduct. Any such statements will be noted in your client record.

Cash and all major credit cards accepted. A credit card is required to book all appointments. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.

I have the right to refuse clients from booking or scheduling.
